Stainless steel DHW cylinders – advantages & product range

Viessmann DHW cylinders are available in two versions: enamelled steel and stainless steel. The term stainless steel refers to alloyed and unalloyed steels. The common stainless steel available from specialist dealers is not necessarily rustproof or suitable for storing foodstuffs such as DHW. The stainless steel DHW cylinders used by Viessmann, on the other hand, meet the highest standards and are absolutely food safe and resistant to acid and corrosion. This in turn provides system owners with a number of benefits.

Viessmann Vitocell 100-V DHW cylinder

Stainless steel DHW cylinders for perfectly hygienic DHW

The crucial benefit of stainless steel DHW cylinders is their chemical composition. The metal has been refined with other alloying elements such as chromium, molybdenum or manganese according to the strictest requirements, making it highly resistant to rust, among other things. Since no additional protective layer has been applied, as is the case with enamelled cylinders, there is no formation of deposits caused by residues over the course of time. For this reason, Viessmann stainless steel DHW cylinders guarantee perfectly hygienic DHW throughout their entire service life. Moreover, dispensing with the protective anode cuts out costs for any operational maintenance or even replacement, when needed.

Further economic benefits of stainless steel DHW cylinders

In addition to the high standard of hygiene and the associated water quality, DHW cylinders made of stainless steel are also impressively cost effective. They are encased in highly efficient, multi layer thermal insulation made of rigid foam, polyester fleece and innovative vacuum panels. As a result, they operate with almost no heat loss, which is also clear to see at first glance: Viessmann stainless steel DHW cylinders are classified in the new, highest ErP efficiency class A+. Compared to DHW cylinders in ErP efficiency class A, previously the highest class, these new appliances save up to 22 percent of energy costs.

Less weight for the same cylinder size

Another benefit of stainless steel DHW cylinders, which becomes apparent even before they are actually in operation, is the weight of these appliances. Compared to enamelled cylinders, stainless steel DHW cylinders such as the Vitocell 300-V and Vitocell 300-W are almost a third lighter – although the cylinder size remains the same. The reduced weight not only makes transport easier. Installation on site is also much easier for contractors carrying out the work. In addition, the dimensions and connections are still identical to the A-label cylinders made of enamelled steel. Old cylinders can therefore be replaced quickly and without any major conversion work.

Large selection of appliances for stainless steel DHW cylinders

A suitable cylinder makes a vital contribution to economic operation. Viessmann has the right stainless steel DHW cylinder with the required capacity to meet every demand. The Vitocell 300-V, for example, is a DHW cylinder made of stainless steel with cylinder capacities of 160, 200, 300 and 500 litres. The Vitocell 300-H, on the other hand, is ideal for installing below the boiler. This DHW cylinder, made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel, holds 160, 200, 350 or 500 litres, depending on the version. The Vitocell 300-B stainless steel DHW cylinder with a capacity of 300 litres or 500 litres is recommended when using solar collectors for heating.
