Central heat supply in new and existing buildings

At Viessmann, the central heat supply for residential buildings ranges from classic mono mode solutions to dual mode energy systems and combined heat and power units (CHP), which simultaneously generate electricity and are operated with environmentally responsible biomethane. True to Viessmann's holistic system concept, multi mode systems offer options for domestic hot water heating and power generation with photovoltaics and solar thermal.

Innovative energy systems for heating, cooling and electricity consumed directly in the home. Depending on the base load required, and various peak load requirements, different systems take over the work in the central heat supply. Each apartment is equipped with a heat transfer station. This way, residents only pay for the energy they actually consume.

Hybrid system selects the cheapest energy source

While the prices for fossil fuels and electricity are subject to strong long-term fluctuations, Viessmann offers hybrid systems that do not lock you into a single energy source. In hybrid units, two independent heat generators are integrated into a single unit: A gas or oil condensing boiler combined with an electrically powered heat pump that draws its energy from the ambient air or the ground. This mix of energy combines "renewable" with "highly efficient" energy and provides the greatest possible freedom to use the energy source that is most affordable at the time. The control unit settings can be adjusted for any situation on the energy market so that the most affordable and efficient mode of operation is always selected when energy prices are fluctuating.

Neighbourhood heating systems in a container –– turnkey and affordable

Heating systems in standard containers are the ideal solution for smaller housing developments where no boiler house is planned or where building costs have to be kept low. Viessmann supplies powerful turnkey systems with short installation times. Particularly economical solutions are systems for simultaneous heat and power generation or for operation with renewable energy sources.

Ice energy store: Heating with ice

The ice energy store system works according to a simple principle: The energy obtained from the sun, air and ground is fed at low temperature into an underground container –– the ice energy store. A heat pump extracts the heat from the ice store and compresses it to a higher flow temperature to heat the building.

In the summer months, the ice energy store can also be used to cool buildings naturally. After the water in the store has iced up at the end of the heating season, cooling energy is drawn from the ice store in the summer.

H₂ ready: Heating with hydrogen

Viessmann is currently paving the way to a greenhouse gas-neutral future by developing an "H₂ ready" condensing boiler, an innovative solution that operates using pure hydrogen. This appliance is based on proven gas condensing technology and will also be able to run on natural gas or a natural gas/hydrogen mixture. As a result, system users are no longer dependent on a given supplier or specific natural gas/hydrogen mixture. The first prototypes are currently being tested in detail in the technology centre, the research and development centre at the headquarters in Allendorf (Eder). It is expected that these appliances will be launched starting in 2024, when the first gas grids for hydrogen will be available in Germany.

Independent of the public grid: Generating and storing self-generated power

Viessmann's integrated range of solutions includes power-generating heating systems based on combined heat and power generation, such as combined heat and power units (CHP) and fuel cell heating appliances, as well as photovoltaic (PV) modules. Surplus electricity can be stored in a Vitocharge power storage unit and consumed when needed. The system user benefits from the greatest possible independence and a significant reduction in costs for expensive electricity purchases from the public grid. Any additional electricity that is generated can be fed into the public grid and remunerated accordingly.
